Leaning more about our Church and Faith

This will be a page to share knowledge about our faith.  We should always strive to improve our knowledge of our faith to assist us on our journey to join God in Heaven.

Why do we sing “Propers” in our Divine Liturgy?

The signing of unique hymns, (Propers) commemorates significant events or Saints during the liturgical calendar year. (i.e. the Feast of St. Nicholas)

In our Divine Liturgy, the terms Troparion, Kontakion, Prokeimenon, Alleluia & Communion hymns are “movable” each week. Going back to ancient traditions, the Propers beautify the constant parts of the liturgy. (i.e. Litany of Peace, Liturgy of the Eucharist.)

What Question should we answer next?

If you have a question about our faith,  please let us know.
